Fox News: Pictures, Videos, Breaking News

Even if you have a lot of other priorities for instance, sports, extracurricular activities, etc., still you need to complete a senior project to graduate successfully

Last year, I wrote that 2014 was a great year for the transhumanism movement. But 2015 was simply incredible -- it might end up being called a breakout year.

Zoltan Istvan

US Presidential candidate of Transhumanist Party; Author of bestselling novel 'The Transhumanist Wager'

I'm not at all convinced Donald Trump is a racist. I AM convinced he is a bullshit artist. With a towering ego. And it's well past time someone in the national media called him on it directly -- in the interest of pure accuracy.

In a surprising move this holiday season, Our Father, which normally art in heaven, descended down to earth yesterday and added His Almighty voice to the call for gun control. Dressed in a pure white suit, and looking not unlike Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty, God appeared on Fox News and said:

Flora Nicholas

(Non) Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winning writer, producer, director

I caught up with James Vanderbilt to ask him a couple of questions about his film, and following are the highlights of a lovely, leisurely and deeply engrossing conversation.

What does this say about Donald Trump? Not much, aside from what we already knew: Donald Trump is a very intelligent man. He knows how to push Americans' buttons. He knows how to tap into our worst fears and deepest prejudices.

The week since the bloody terrorist attack on a San Bernardino holiday party hasn't gone well for American politics. It's mostly been a disconcerting combination of the uncertain and the shrill, the latter crossing the line into outright fascism.

It's no surprise that people are attracted to charismatic goons like Trump who promise to eradicate perceived "evil." He and other right-wing leaders have always understood that fear, defensiveness, and perception of being persecuted are exquisitely potent political tools.

It's that time of year, again... Shame on you, you seculars! You're the ones who've declared war on Christmas! You're the ones who've ripped the Nativities out of our town squares!

Words like "terrorist" and "terrorism" are used by media as propaganda terms to manufacture anti-Muslim sentiment, which in turn "justifies" worldwide military adventures to dominate other countries.

Imagine if a Muslim gunman had opened fire at an American shopping center on Black Friday, shot eleven people and killed three, including a police officer. Do you think CNN would have broken away from programming just hours after the shooter was apprehended in order to air a pop culture documentary?

Following the recent mass shooter attack in Colorado, many Americans are rightly considering the deadly and foreseeable consequences of the right-wing media's role in the dissemenation of demonstrably false accusations of fetal body part sales by the national community health care provider Planned Parenthood.

I couldn't watch much more at that point because laziness is the Morning Joe style though they act as if they're sharp. They don't really press anyone hard, which is cowardly and shameful. Are they really afraid guests will refuse to come back on the show if they ask probing questions?

There is no question that ISIS is a violent, despicable enemy. But based on hard evidence, on the number of dangerous and often lethal incidents, the real domestic terrorist threat both to civilians and especially police is not just Islamic and foreign, it is also home grown.

The furor over Donald Trump's call for a National Registry of Muslims escalated today as Democrats hit back with a call for a different kind of National Registry -- this time, one for "Idiots."

Flora Nicholas

(Non) Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winning writer, producer, director

There appears to be large overlap between the GOP establishment and the Beltway media in terms of a deeply held belief that Trump doesn't really represent today's Republican Party, and that someone as garish and ill-informed as him could never been selected as the party's nominee.

For anyone who's been watching the Fox News coverage since Friday and seen the almost non-stop smear campaign against Obama (it's been part of the larger, right-wing media freakout), it's almost unimaginable what the Fox commentary would sound like if ISIS killed hundreds in America during next year's campaign.

More Bad News for Online Writers-Amazon Dropped Zujava

Even if you have a lot of other priorities for instance, sports, extracurricular activities, etc., still you need to complete a senior project to graduate successfully

2014-08-15 8:24 pm PDT

Oh boy, has this day been a bad one for online writers.

Long story short...Zujava has lost it's Amazon affiliate partnership.

You can read about it here...

2014-08-15 11:03 pm PDT

I'm not on Zujava, but my opinion is anyone wanting to use his or her own Amazon account there should check with Amazon directly and get a definitive answer first. Better safe than sorry.

2014-08-15 11:09 pm PDT

I tried joining Zujava. I was supposed to get an email verifying that I was forreal, etc., and it didn't arrive, so I contacted Zujava and received an email back with a case number. I didn't hear anything further, so sent another email referencing the case number. I didn't hear another word and decided I probably wouldn't want to write for such an unresponsive site anyhow. Now at least I know why Zujava was unresponsive. I would've been disappointed had I actually joined, submitted articles, etc., only to shut down.

Rule 27 is to do with artificially generating clicks. It may not even have been them. I had some scumbag try to cost me my Chikita, AdSense and Amazon accounts by continuously clicking their links. I did lose my Chitika account.

2014-08-16 5:58 am PDT

Thanks for this Mommy 3

I never wrote there much, only 3 articles, copy pasted back onto my machine. 15c earned down the drain :)

account deleted

2014-08-16 7:09 am PDT

Thanks for posting here Mommy3. I don't visit there anymore since I removed all my articles 2 months ago except for 3 to keep my account open.

This really is a lot of work for those with large accounts on Squidoo and Zujava. I sympathize with you all :(

2014-08-16 8:14 am PDT

I wrote the qualifying articles on Zujava and asked for an editor review. I never heard anything from them nor from 3 emails to the support desk. Deleted my account.

I can picture that cat just purring away with pride right now :)

On your website, or a writing site? Luckily there are plugins to block this from happening, I have them installed.

I only allow two clicks per visitor, anymore gets blocked so it does no harm.

My own sit. I'm currently scrapping the current site - the internet has changed so much it's no longer doing very well - and replacing it with a simple WP blog to post the occasional article on.

2014-08-17 11:18 am PDT

I think seeing all these content sites close or consolidate will drive more writers and traffic to InfoBarrel since it is virtually the only serious writing site left. It really is the "top cat."

I'm really looking forward to the update that Ryan and Kevin have planned for us in the next month or so. I'm not going to try to mess with the Squidoo/Hubpages thing right now. However, once I see how the articles transfer, I may put some of my best ones here on InfoBarrel ... and I'm sure some of the other writers are considering the same thing.

I'm going to wait for the InfoBarrel update to be over, first. There is so much change going on in the writing world right now!

In the long run, however, I think all this bodes well for InfoBarrel

2014-08-17 5:21 pm PDT

I think these consolidated sites will be like visiting McDonald's and InfoBarrel will remain "fine dining." As long as we keep standards high on here, IB will be around for a long, long time. Looking forward to Mr. Serious White Cat's latest updates too.

I thought about moving my content here but I have 5 articles and have not made any money at all. On Squidoo I was making almost $100 a month even in the last 3 months on my top 25 articles. I am not sure what I am missing here but my articles here don't get traffic or payments and they are the same type of topics.

You haven't written anything since March 2013 here?

Paulina Gretzky’s Sexy Twitpics Removed From Twitter

Even if you have a lot of other priorities for instance, sports, extracurricular activities, etc., still you need to complete a senior project to graduate successfully

Fans of Paulina Gretzky will have to find a different way to see sexy photos of her. (Please dont stalk her.) Paulina has removed her Twitter feed and some sports fans think that it may have to do with her father, the great one, Wayne Gretzky.

Gretzky was linked last week to the potential sale of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and he may not be pleased with his daughters provocative Twitter account.

The Globe and Mail reports that Paulina, 22, is the oldest of five children.

If there is such thing as a Twitter accomplishment, than Paulina should be proud that a few of her photos were placed into COED Magazines 77 Sexiest Twitpics and TheCHIVE.com dedicated an entire article, Paulina Gretzky is using the Twitter Machine Properly, to sexy photos of the great ones daughter.

Before her Twitter account was removed, Paulina tweeted:

Having a nice sit down dinner with my dad about social media..haha #SIKEEE.

She said later:

Taking a break from Twitter for a bit. Happy Holidays!!! xoxo.

The Spec reports that Wayne Gretzky may have also banned his daughter from Twitter after hockey player Paul Bissonnette sent Paulina a Hi Paulina tweet.

Or, of course, it could be absolutely nothing. Maybe Paulina wants people to stop focusing on her looks so that she can start making headway in the acting business. Paulina just finished filming Guns, Girls, and Gambling, which according to IMDB, involves an Elvis impersonators, Indians, modern cowboys, a 6-foot-tall blond assassin, a frat boy, a corrupt sheriff and a prostitute chasing after an Indian artifact.

Lets hope shes not playing the prostitute.

Do you think Wayne Gretzky told his daughter to stop posting sexy photos on the internet? If Gretzky did tell his 22-year-old daughter to stop posting sexy twitpics, he should take comfort in the fact that he isnt the only morally focused disciplinarian on Twitter. The Dallas Cowboys reportedly told cheerleader Melissa Kellerman to stop posting humorous things on her twitter feed.

21 great holiday gifts for college students

(MoneyWatch) If you haven't begun shopping for

holiday gifts for college students on your list, now is the time to get started. To help make it easier to find great presents for students, here are 21 gift ideas:

1. Nearly effortless diary. Urban Outfitters sells a five-year memory book that has enough room for the owner to write one line a day in it. ($16.95).

2. Wallet stuffed with surprises. I stole this idea from a mom who bought a wallet for her son last Christmas and then put in cash, movie tickets and gift cards for stores that he liked. The gift was a big hit.

3. Rugged camera. GoPro cameras are shock-proof and waterproof and can be used for such recreational activities as biking, snowboarding, swimming, surfing and running. Video from these cameras have appeared in dozens of television shows, including Mythbusters ($200-$400).

4. Chalkboard coffee cup. You can write your own messages with chalk on this black ceramic coffee cup with lid ($12).

5. Bluetooth speakers. Students can share their favorite songs from their smartphone or mp3 player with bluetooth speakers. The Kinivo ZX100 Mini Portfable Speaker with rechargeable battery has received great reviews and is affordable ($18.95). For more expensive wireless speakers, check this popular one from Logitech ($109).

6. Mini coffee maker with travel mug. No need to head to the cafeteria when a college student needs a cup of coffee. I like this single-serve Black and Decker coffee maker because the cup is a travel mug.

7. Unique USB flash drives. How about a flash drive bracelet ($20) for a stocking stuffer or how about a cork flash drive?

8. A great read. If you give "Gone Girl" as a Christmas present to a young woman on your list, don't be surprised if she spends December 25 with her nose in this popular thriller. Here's another book suggestion from an ex-Navy seal: "No Easy Day: The First Hand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden."

9. Even if you have a lot of other priorities for instance, sports, extracurricular activities, etc., still you need to complete a senior project to graduate successfullyFamily recipes. This can be a priceless gift for college students who now must cook for themselves. Buy a binder and fill it with your child's favorite family recipes. Another alternative -- check out "I Love Trader Joe's College Cook Book."

10. Plane ticket. Spring for a plane ticket for your child to head out for spring break or to visit a college friend over the summer break.

11. Chick flicks. Buy your child's favorite blue-ray movies. Here is a chick flick package ($37) that includes "Juno," "27 Dresses" and "The Devil Wears Prada."

12. Geek clock. If your child is into math or engineering, consider this geek clock for his or her dorm room. I bought one for my son last Christmas and he loves it.

13. Touchscreen gloves. It could be cold out, but students can still use their phone, iPad, eReaders and other electronic devices by wearing touchscreen gloves.

14. College advice. Besides my own book, "The Thinking Student's Guide to College" is my favorite title in the college niche. It's a book for college students who want to make the absolute most out of their college years.

15. Heart-rate monitor watch. Heart-rate monitor watches work with a chest strap to allow users to see how hard they are working and how many calories they're burning. Here's one suggestion -- the Timex T5j031 Unisex Digital Fitness Heart Rate Monitor Watch ($59.47).

16. Etsy gift. If you haven't visited this online bazaar of homemade gifts, ranging from jewelry and clothing to art and an an assortment of strange gadgets, you've got to take a peek. You sure won't find Etsy creations at the mall.

17. Swiss Army Knife. For a tricked-out knife, check out the Swiss Army CyberTool 34, which includes a can opener, corkscrew, scissors, toothpick, wire cutters, screw drivers, bit wrench, bottle opener and much more. ($92)

18. OPI nail polish gift set. The bottles in this nail polish set from Sephora ($49.50) are small, but since trends are always changing college students rarely finish full-size bottles anyway. Here are other gift ideas from the cosmetics store.

19. Personalized business card case. Some day soon your child will need business cards. Here's a circuit board business card case, some Frank Lloyd Wright cases and a more traditional leather business card case.

20. Classic stationary. Many students need stationary to write "thank you" notes for internships, jobs, fellowships and mentors. Handwritten notes on classy stationary from Crane & Co. or other stationers will fit the bill.

21. Leather portfolio. These classy portfolios, which can hold resumes, a pad of paper, pens and more, will come in handy when a college student has lined up interviews for jobs or internships. ($18 to $60)
