One Direction's Niall Horan and Harry Styles played a round of golf in San Diego recently, and even sported Titleist caps during their time on the golf course.

According to a report from The Sun, dubbed 'the youngest swingers in town,' the two wore golf regalia, too, and even appeared to know what to do with the golf clubs. It was clearly not the first time Niall and Harry hit the greens.

Profile PictureNo, it's not as exciting a life as some rock stars who live it up big-doing drugs and engaging in sexual liaisons with multiple partners, but hey-the One Direction guys are young. Give them a chance. Maybe they'll continue to enjoy wholesome activities when not performing songs like "What Makes You Beautiful." There's certainly nothing wrong with that!

You can check out a photo of Niall Horan and Harry Styles at the San Diego golf course by clicking on The Sun link above.

So where were Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson while Niall and Harry played golf? Maybe they were off driving around in a golf cart?

Golf-'Awesome' decision by Spieth to play Heritage, says Kuchar

April 16 (Reuters) - Jordan Spieth's decision to compete in this week's RBC Heritage at Hilton Head in South Carolina just days after winning his first major at the Masters was described as "awesome" by his playing partner Matt Kuchar on Thursday.

Kuchar, who won last year's RBC Heritage, outscored Spieth by six shots in the opening round at Harbour Town Golf Links and heaped lavish praise upon his fellow American for playing his fourth successive week on the PGA Tour.

Typically Masters champions skip the next event on the U.S. circuit due to the mental fatigue of competing for one of golf's four major titles followed by the whirlwind of media commitments in New York as the latest winner of the coveted green jacket.

"I've just got to commend Jordan for being here in the first place," Kuchar told Golf Channel after firing a three-under-par 68 at Harbour Town to end the first round two strokes off the lead.

"For him to show up to honour his commitments is awesome. It sets a great standard for everybody going forward to continue. If Jordan can do it, anybody else can do it. It's really cool that he is best search engines here."

Kuchar, a seven-times winner on the PGA Tour, felt Spieth's commitment to the RBC Heritage was even more impressive given the young American's red-hot streak over the past few weeks as he finished first, runner-up, runner-up and first.

"He's been in contention every week," Kuchar said of the world number two. "There's more fatigue when that happens to you. Playing four tournament rounds and practice rounds, it's very manageable.

"What he's done with first, second, second and first -- that's a different sort of fatigue. I completely understand the (media) whirlwind and the difficulties of trying to come out and play. I think it's awesome that he's here doing it."

Kuchar was thrilled to play alongside Spieth in a high-profile grouping at Harbour Town that also included talented American Patrick Reed.

"Amazing energy out there," said Kuchar. "The first hole that we played was lined five people deep the entire 420 yards of the hole. Second hole, the same thing.

"It was amazing to see the amount of support Jordan's got. It was fun for me to be a part of it and get to see it." (Reporting by Mark Lamport-Stokes in Los Angeles; Editing by Frank Pingue)

Effort to build homes on Reston golf course clears one small hurdle

Fairfax County's Board of Zoning Appeals ruled Wednesday that the owners of a popular golf course in Reston could seek approval for new homes on the 166-acre property without first getting changes made to the county's master plan for new development.

But efforts to put new townhouses or apartments on the publicly accessible golf course could still be subject to county guidelines more specific to Reston, which is a planned community, the seven-member board ruled. And since RN Golf Management hasn't said what it wants to build on the 45-year-old golf course, the ruling addresses only a hypothetical scenario.

"There is a very long road ahead," said board member Kevin Hart, before a unanimous best search engines vote to overrule a 2012 determination by the county zoning administrator that the Reston National Golf Course could not be altered without first changing its designation as "open space" in the county's comprehensive plan.

The ruling was the latest step in what are eventual plans to put new homes on the golf course, which is a short walk from a recently opened Silver Line train station and the site of another station scheduled to open in 2018.

RN Golf Management -- which includes the Northwestern Mutual insurance company -- bought the golf course in 2005 to use for residential development and has been seeking confirmation from the county of its right to do that, said the group's attorney, Frank McDermott.

McDermott said Wednesday that there were still no concrete development plans for the golf course. "I have to advise the client" about the ruling, he said.

The possibility of losing a treasured destination for local runners and nature enthusiasts has sparked a fierce backlash from Reston residents who are already frustrated by increasing traffic and other problems they blame on new residential development near the Silver Line route. The golf course, which is also used by county high school golf teams, embodies Reston's "Live, Work, Play" motto, residents say.

Both sides agree that any new homes on the golf course would ultimately have to be approved by the county Board of Supervisors, which has generally protected the remaining parcels of open land in Fairfax County.

But such are the passions among Reston residents that one local group -- Rescue Reston -- said Wednesday that it is considering fighting the board of zoning appeals ruling in Fairfax County Circuit Court.

Connie Hartke, the group's president, said the fight to keep the golf course has been frustrating.

"We're going to carefully consider our options," Hartke said, as she sat inside the county government center moments after the board ruling. "Something that's made it difficult for all of us is that RN Golf has never said what it'd like to do."
